First stop...

The main reason we went into MA at all was to see Bill's granddaughter, Lauren, who is doing her residency in orthopedics at Boston's Tufts University. As a midway stop, we stayed at the Northampton/Springfield KOA. It was mostly a pretty squished place, except for the open field they put big rigs like ours in. But it was quite a steep, bumpy, twisty dirt road to get to it!

While we weren't too keen on the roads in MA, or as it turns out, the campgrounds (which were few and far between, and some pretty bad to boot, as I'll rant about in the next entry...!), we had some fun despite some of these unpleasantries. One of the fun things at this campground were the apple trees near our RV - the kitties had a great time climbing in one of them the first day we were there! They had such a good time, in fact, Bill had to partially climb the tree to convince Tractor to come down...! And a really funny thing happened after we had all exited the tree... A squirrel took over occupation and started throwing the teeny little apples out - at Scratty! Yes, it was obvious targeting! Poor little Scrat! We may have to get the kitties hard hats for future outings...!

Another huge plus for us, as usual, was meeting great people! And we met some really nice folks at this RV park. Above are two of them - Brenda and Barry from Ontario. Bill didn't get to meet them, but for me, it was the best part of our stay at that KOA! It was fun talking to them, and it's still fun emailing with them - Hi B&B!

While I didn't get any photos to prove it, we also met some nice folks and their kids from...Bolivia! They looked to be staying in one of the "trailer cabins." And it was also interesting to speak with some other people, from Quebec, who were camped nearby in their motorcycle-tents! Conversing with them was a little difficult as mostly they spoke French, but one of them could speak some English, and we had fun sharing experiences with him.

One day I ventured out onto MA's miserable, twisting, nonsensical roads to get to a store Bill found on-line that sold our special vacuum bags. I also finally found a grocery store. And here's who greeted me there! (and no, I did NOT eat Oscar, Elmo, OR Cookie Monster - my namesake!!!)

Back at home, Tractor and Scratty hold down the driver and passenger seats. Scratty looks pretty comfortable, doesn't she? Maybe that's why she spends much of her time in that very same spot and position!!! (the rest of the time she's on the other chair!)

Just like most kids - leaving their clothes all over the floor...!

Scratty experiments with Tractor's Kleenex box game. She enjoys sparring with him while wearing it, but generally she leaves the boxhead outfit for him to wear.
