Fort Davis

I haven't always been a huge history or museum buff...but I really enjoyed our stop at Ft. Davis. They have done a remarkable job of restoring parts of it and just preserving the rest. For info. about the site, check here: http://www.nps.gov/foda/index.htm

Off we go to explore...

Finally! A sign that says "permitted" not "prohibited!"
However, the dogs are not so lucky and get left in the car
(they get their walk afterwards).

A grand entrance.

The Officers' Row

From the Visitor Center

Enlisted Mens' Barracks

From the Visitor Center again

Bill & buddies going to check out the Commanding Officer's quarters (the only officer's quarters that was done up inside).

Officers' Row, up close

One of the rooms inside the Commanding Officer's quarters

All that's left of some of the buildings

Hmm, can't remember exactly what building this was from and can't find it on the map! Obviously a kitchen!

Junior Officers Quarters

What it looks like now.

What it looked like then (different vantage point, much higher up!).

Commissary.

Can you tell this was from a loooong, loooong time ago?!
So that's it for our 3-event day!
