On July 9th, we moved east to Waterloo, NY. A small town but with its own historical significance: very involved with the womans' rights movement, where Memorial Day first began (1866!), and several other various firsts (including the Mormon religion, and even the method of embalming!). It is also in the heart of the Finger Lakes region, especially known for its vino.
Traveling along freeways in the NE includes lots of tolls and toll plazas! Here's one on a rainy day, as we leave the Niagara area enroute to the Clayton, NY/Kingston, Canada area...
Waterloo was not a destination in and of itself but rather a waypoint, but it was a nice stay nonetheless. We loved the open, uncrowded, green space of the campground we stayed in.
The more crowded area was along the waterway - Waterloo Harbor, which connected with - wait for it...the Seneca River! Yes, our G shep was, once again, in her element and surrounded by her celebrity!!
Our campground (Waterloo Harbor) was owned by a water sports outfit, called...Fuzzy Guppies!
Bill & the doggies explore the Seneca River, right behind our campground.
And Bill felt it wouldn't be right for Senny to pass up the opportunity of dipping her toes (and everything else!) in her namesake river, so...!
Ah, life is sweet! "Toweling off" afterwards.
Someone else enjoying Senny's waterway... (no royalty required)
A scene at Seneca Lake. (and no, Senny didn't dip toes here...but I'm sure the doggy water from her river event eventually found its way here!)
After a few trips in a smaller, used motorhome, we decided we liked all that adventuring so much, we came home and traded in our RV for a bigger one, moved out of our house and rented it, moving into our little yurt in the back country of a certain southern CA county - all in one month! We started out afresh then as full-time RVers - my husband, two cats, two dogs, and I. And indeed, our first year with our new Winnebago Tour, we were out from Jan. to Nov. However, due to health issues and trying to avoid the cold wintery weather found in so much of our country, subsequent years have seen us only out for about 6 months, scurrying back to sunny, mild southern Calif. come fall.
I am amazed at all we've seen and the wonderful people we've met. Come share it with us...
