And will the real reason for our stop in MA please stand up?
The whole reason d'etre for our detour into Mass. was to see Lauren, Bill's granddaughter, and to find out how her choice of residency subject matter and location suited her. Having been traveling from small town to small town, we had developed a serious dread of big cities, and from all I've heard, Boston has to be one of the worst when it comes to traffic congestion and confusion (remember Massholes...??). So fortunately Lauren was good with driving the hour or so to our RV park in Mansfield and so saved us the stress of navigating unfamiliar and possibly chaotic roads. We grilled steaks and bought her choice in beer - blueberry ale. It was really great to see her and to see her so happy with her life path choices thus far. Bill and I are really proud of Lauren for her tremendous accomplishments (and trust me, she has done VERY well, graduating in the top 1% of medical school graduates in the country!!! and at a younger age than many). And I am exceedingly proud of my husband, who used up much of his life's earnings to fund the endeavor, asking Lauren to "pay it forward" to society when she is financially set and able, by supporting someone else (other than her own kids) who has the promise but not the dough. Lauren may have summited the peak, but Bill did a whole lot of basecamp work to help make it possible and easier! So I'm hugely impressed with both of them!!!
After a few trips in a smaller, used motorhome, we decided we liked all that adventuring so much, we came home and traded in our RV for a bigger one, moved out of our house and rented it, moving into our little yurt in the back country of a certain southern CA county - all in one month! We started out afresh then as full-time RVers - my husband, two cats, two dogs, and I. And indeed, our first year with our new Winnebago Tour, we were out from Jan. to Nov. However, due to health issues and trying to avoid the cold wintery weather found in so much of our country, subsequent years have seen us only out for about 6 months, scurrying back to sunny, mild southern Calif. come fall.
I am amazed at all we've seen and the wonderful people we've met. Come share it with us...
