Boothbay Harbor!

Next stop: Boothbay! There was a real irony in our visit to Boothbay... A big reason for us planning a stop here was to visit relatives. We had been through this part of Maine once before (where we flew to the area and just drove around) and planned to see my second cousin and his wife then, but as life would have it, they ended up out of town while we were there, so no meet-up. So here we decided to give it another try. I couldn't give anyone a specific date as to when we were going to be there (with our meandering ways!), but it sounded like a get-together might work out this time. Well, long story short...between lack of communication and miscommunication, we managed to miss again! Too funny, eh?! Oh well. We really enjoyed seeing Boothbay anyways. Very picturesque town, but... way too much traffic around there!!!!!!!!! Here we are, en route to Boothbay. The crowded roads were really reminding us of our last time in southern Maine!!! Ugh.
I spent one foggy day just strolling around downtown Boothbay. It was lovely! And my perfect temp!

One resident, however, found it better weather for staying snug inside.

Others were like me though and up for playing outdoors!

C'mon, it just wouldn't look the same in bright sun!?!

The cute "Tugboat Inn" and restaurant.

I loved this nursery - what a pretty "wig" this building was wearing!

And look at all the happy plants! I don't think they have to xeriscape here too much...!

Although I didn't do any touristy shopping at all, it looked like there were fun things in some of the shops!

And I like a town that has dog water bowls outside the stores!!

The Blue Heron Seaside Inn - very pretty! And they're not kidding - behind the rear parking area is...water!

Is this Long John Silver? Does it make you hungry for fish & chips, looking at this guy?

Another foggy harbor scene.

I just had to photograph this boat's name! Now, is it FogDog or DogFog? I guess the latter is more when the dog lets out a big one...!? And I had to look it up - their Marblehead is probably from MA.

And now we transition to an outing on a sunnier day! And of course I had get a shot of this pretty cemetary...

And this...is where Ouray had the ugly lump (above his eye) finally removed. The Boothbay Animal Hospital. We didn't want to subject him to anesthesia and all at his age (he's always been very sensitive to sedation and takes a long time to come out of it), but the lump was finally big enough and bothering him so much that he'd claw at it and scratch the skin off, etc. Yuck. But all in all, it was actually a good experience, thanks to Dr. Kjersten Morrison, who was awesome!!! The only bummer was how long it took our Ouraydog to come around afterwards, and how stiff and cramped up his musles were, but that was to be expected, unfortunately. We can highly recommend Dr. Morrison though!!! If you ever need vet care while in Boothbay...

The harbor in sunshine.

And a quiet sunset scene (with a texturizing filter treatment, just for fun - like the first photo of this entry, which I played with too).

Goodnight, Boothbay.
