Virginia

Now, going back to Tues., June 8th...we left Chapel Hill, NC, and moved on to better places, starting with VA.

One of the few good things about our stay in Chapel Hill consisted of a couple visits to Trader Joe's! These were the first (and only) TJ's shopping trips of the whole trip! Here, we are at a rest stop, snacking on TJ's sushi for lunch. Notice one of the feline perks of moving days - the three-foot rule is temporarily suspended, and the cat can have all FOUR feet on top of the table! In point of fact, the entire body is allowed to rest on the flat surface, right next to the food - a coveted position, to be sure!!

Look out the window, and you'll see the truck passing by that Tracky is checking out. Also notice that it doesn't bother Tracky much to have a big ol' truck motoring by within feet of his face!

Settled into our new spot at the Davis Lakes Campground, in Suffolk, VA. It never takes long for all the critters to re-enter their comfort zones...

Yeah, sure, might not look comfortable to you! But then again, have you ever tried it?! Oh, you HAVE a sleeping bag? OK, but is it made of paper and does it have handles? Does it crinkle when you move? Does it say Trader Joes or Albertsons on the outside? Yeh, thought so...

When I drove into town, I saw these gals doing a fund-raiser carwash. Hmmm, washes for our poor ol' truck are/were far and few between, so...!!!

And with this great advertising, how could anyone say no?!

Uh-oh, this is what we hope/hoped would never happen to us...!!!!! Bill had talked to the owners - they had just bought the rig, and the brakes weren't working!!!!!!! They were planning on still trying to drive it home, but Bill recommended they call their insurance company and look into towing...! Thank goodness they decided to try that option! We were sorry for them and very glad it wasn't us!

Tractor displays the Upstairs Eating Technique. When we leave the RV with the dogs still inside (for example, when we're walking the cats), we must remember to put up the catfood - or face the consequences (empty, POLISHED bowls...!). The high altitude installation doesn't deter either cat from snacking...

This looks like Billy pricked his hand, doesn't it? But no, that's the creature that would like to prick his hand - and suck up the ensuing red goodies! This tiny thing is a tick (maybe a deer tick?) - one of the tons of ticks that plagued us in NC (and I'm pretty sure it was a leftover from there that we just happened upon shortly after setting up in VA).

The end of a good day is spent chatting with a new neighbor. The kitties understand that these conversations can be struck up at any point during a walk, and the best thing to do is just lay around and wait till it's over and time to move again!
