NC's better half

On May 26th we moved to Marion, NC. This town is in the far west part of NC, just east of Asheville. It's right next to the Pisgah National Forest and is just down the hill from the Blue Ridge Parkway.
We stayed at the Buck Creek Campground. What a lovely spot! At first I was disappointed that they didn't have a 50amp FHU (full hook-up) site for us - in the trees and right along the creek -but we ended up on the edge of this gorgeous green field - that they used for flying RC planes! So that was perfect for Billy! Plus, we have found that overall we prefer open spaces to being totally in the trees. Our RV is so dark all in its own, and being completely in the shade makes it too much like a cave and too oppressive! Good to have that sun streaming in - and also to have an open view! And we're not like so many other RVers we've seen, who close up all their curtains the minute they arrive in a campground! Some people are so concerned with their privacy that it sort of makes me wonder what they're doing in there...! But not us. If people really want to watch us pick our noses, well, go ahead, get that ladder, and watch away! We prefer the ability to get the sunshine and see outside to having all that shuttered privacy!!

At first, it was heartbreaking to be so close to the RC action - because Bill didn't have an RC plane to fly! But he soon remedied that! While I was out exploring in the truck one day, Bill rode the motorcycle all the way to Hickory (one hour each way, in something like 100 degrees!!) to pick up a little plane! So he was able to participate in the afternoon events after all! Phew!
The audience.

Rooting and cheering for the home team! The Barton Home Team, that is!

Billy and pups make friends!

A typical cute brick house of the sort we saw on the way to and from our campground. Nice, huh?
