Exploring - by bike...

I'll bet you didn't know that Pennsylvania has beaches!
...
Presque Isle State Park: "a 3,200-acre sandy peninsula that arches into Lake Erie." It has a wonderful biking/walking path around it, totalling some 13+ miles. So while Bill was boarding a plane to San Diego for another work meeting, I was boarding my bike for some more badly-needed exercise and to see what Preque Isle was all about. Actually, Bill was way past boarding by the time I started pedaling... It was a 2-hr drive to Cleveland, OH, to drop him off, and then 2 hours to get back home. Then load up the bike and drive to the isle. (why such a far-off airport? It was always a challenge to find both a good RV park along our main route, in an interesting-enough location with stuff to do and see, AND a major airport "nearby" that Southwest flew out of... This one was good on the first two counts, not quite as good on the last... But good enough.) I spent the entire afternoon cycling and had a wonderful time.

Oh great! I guess Chapel Hill, NC, doesn't have the last word on these pests!! Fortunately, not much of an issue for me, safe on a my bike on the paved trail!

One of several families out in a pedal cart. How fun!

Road on the right - bike/walk path on the left.

Looking back to the Erie mainland.

Lady Kate coming in...

Houseboats.

Passenger.

A cool kind of yucca.

Pretty "coast."

Presque Isle Light, circa 1872! And still in operation today!

Shadows can be very weird things - but esp. on a semi-recumbent bike!

Fisherman sillhouette, with Erie, PA, in background.

Sunset dunes on "beach side" (ie, lake side).

Going, going, gone...

But it's beautiful, even after the sun has slipped beyond the horizon...

13.1, and I'm done.
